IRON MAIDEN ANNOUNCE BELGRADE SHOW FOR '09

Iron Maiden have added a concert at the Belgrade Arena on Tuesday 10th February on their way to Dubai on Ed Force One. Says manager Rod Smallwood, "We weren't able to get to Serbia in '08 so thought we should call in on our way East. When we last played a couple of years ago it was an incredible show with fans coming in on buses from all over the Balkans and we very much look forward to returning"

Tickets go on sale to the public on 11th December and we have made arrangements for a special pre-sale for fan club members on the 10th December. We also hope to run a 'FIRST TO THE BARRIER' draw for the show.

Note: It is unlikely that any other concerts will be added prior to Belgrade, making it the final European show of the 'Somewhere Back in Time Tour'.

Городской совет Виллавы украсился символом Iron Maiden

Социалисты, входящие в городской совет города Виллава в испанской провинции Наварра, теперь украшают свои места в зале заседаний флагом с изображением Эдди, символа группы Iron Maiden, сообщает 15 октября The Guardian.
Акция социалистов стала частью "войны политических символов", начавшейся после того, как члены совета из числа баскских сепаратистов стали вывешивать во время заседаний красно-бело-зеленый баскский флаг.
Большая часть членов совета не одобрили действия сепаратистов, поскольку отвергают саму идею рассматривать Наварру как часть Страны басков.
"Флаг Iron Maiden значит для меня очень многое, - заявил лидер социалистов Хосе Луис Урис (José Luis Uriz). - Если я вынужден терпеть их флаг, то пусть и они терпят лицо Эдди."
Консервативная партия "Наваррское народное единство" подждержала протест социалистов и теперь украшают свои места в городском совете совете флагом местного футбольного клуба La Liga.

IRON MAIDEN Drummer's Signed Cymbal Being Auctioned For Charity - Dec. 8, 2008

According to Altsounds.com, IRON MAIDEN's Nicko McBrain has donated a signed Paiste 22" bell ride cymbal to an exclusive auction raising money for the charity, Teenage Cancer Trust, which helps teenagers and young people fight cancer.

From Monday, December 8 until Monday, December 15, the drums will be under auction and open for bids via the online auction site Buy Once Give Twice.

Iron Maiden man puts mettle behind Vulcan

A LEGENDARY heavy metal rock star has thrown his weight behind a campaign to preserve a vintage bomber at Southend Airport for future generations.

Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson, who is a qualified pilot, paid a visit to Hockley to speak about his life as a music icon and an airline captain.

The star’s visit was organised by the Vulcan Restoration Trust, which looks after the Vulcan bomber kept at Southend Airport. Bruce took time out to take a look inside the vintage plane, before his talk at Hawkwell Village Hall.

Phil Whalley, spokesman for the trust, said: “During the morning, Bruce took the controls of the Vulcan to run the engines as part of the ongoing engineering regime.

“The rock star is not a stranger to Avro Vulcan B2 XL426, having visited in 2006. He took the jet for a high-speed taxi run down Southend’s runway, reaching more than 100mph, before using the aircraft’s brake chute to bring her to a stop.

“This event was open to the public, but was marred by extremely bad weather.

“Ever since then the trust has been trying to get Bruce back to Southend to entertain its members.”

More than 125 people gathered at Hawkwell Village Hall to hear the musician’s talk.

The singer left Iron Maiden for a period in the 1990s to learn to fly airliners, which included a spell with the now defunct British World Airlines at Southend Airport.

Now a fully qualified captain with UK airline Astraeus, he is back with Iron Maiden. He pilots one of the airline’s modified and specially named Boeing 757 “Ed Force One” jets. It carries the band, its equipment and an army of roadies and support teams around on the continuing Somewhere Back In Time World Tour.

The trust is entirely reliant on public support and holds a number of events throughout the year to raise funds for the restoration and preservation of the iconic ex-RAF Cold War bomber.

Maiden on CNN Revealed

CNN International will be repeating the excellent 'Revealed' over the next week or so. If you missed it the first time around, CNN followed the band around the South American leg of the Somewhere Back In Time tour back at the beginning of 2008. Lots of on-stage action and plenty of Ed Force One.
