IRON MAIDEN's MCBRAIN Inducted Into 'Drum-Legends' Hall Of Fame

IRON MAIDEN's Nicko McBrain was inducted into Guitar Center's "Drum-Legends" Hall of Fame on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Guitar Center's Drum-Off grand finals in Los Angeles. McBrain also performed the MAIDEN classics "The Trooper" and "Hallowed Be Thy Name" at the event, which was held at the historic Music Box at Fonda Theater. The show also featured performances from drumming greats Jason Bittner (SHADOWS FALL), an exclusive collaboration by Thomas Pridgen (MARS VOLTA) and Thomas Lang and a headlining performance by PAPA ROACH. The evening was hosted by Stephen Perkins (JANE'S ADDICTION).

Guitar Center posthumously honored the legendary drumming icon Mitch Mitchell (JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE) along with living legend Carmine Appice (VANILLA FUDGE, TED NUGENT, ROD STEWART) during the show, as they were also inducted into Guitar Center's "Drum-Legends" Hall of Fame.

Started three years ago, "Drum Legends" was created to acknowledge the contributions of many of today's most legendary and iconic drummers. Guitar Center has dedicated a special section in their flagship San Francisco location to "Drum Legends", featuring past inductees including Steve Smith, David Garibaldi, Alan White, Greg Errico and others.

IRON MAIDEN: 10,000 Tickets Sold For Belgrade Concert

According to Blic Online, around 10,000 tickets have already been sold for IRON MAIDEN's February 10 concert at the Belgrade Arena in Belgrade, Serbia. The British heavy metal band will perform at the venue on a stadium stage over 20 meters wide with 12 tons of stage equipment and lots of pyrotechnics, while about 80 people will make sure that the whole operation goes smoothly.

"We are happy to start 2009 at the Belgrade Arena. Our aircraft will be loaded with as much equipment as possible, with a lot of pyrotechnics," says bassist Steve Harris, who adds that the band will mostly play songs mostly from its first four albums.

"This tour has been unique so far, with the whole team and equipment on the aircraft and it has been one of the most successful, exciting and amusing tours in the whole career of the band," says vocalist Bruce Dickinson. "Flying by Ed Force One around the planet and playing for numerous fans in many countries was an unforgettable experience. Flying and playing are the greatest challenges and pleasures in my life."

Lauren Harris, Steve Harris' daughter, will support MAIDEN at the Belgrade concert.

Ticket prices are as follows: 2,590 (grandstands), 2,990 (pit), 3,190, 3,690 (golden seats) and 3,990 dinars (fan pit). Organizers point out that prices might change, depending on the euro-dinar exchange rate.

British heavy rock legends, Iron Maiden, in association with Banger Productions, EMI Records, Universal (USA) and Arts Alliance Media, announce that they will be releasing a feature length documentary film into cinemas worldwide on April 21st 2009.

As you may know from Rod's tour diaries, Iron Maiden have been working on a feature length documentary. Entitled 'IRON MAIDEN: FLIGHT 666', the movie follows the band on the first leg of their Somewhere Back In Time World Tour in February and March of 2008 as they experienced the most ambitious and adventurous tour in rock history, and will be released in April 2009 in association with EMI Records and Universal in the USA.

The Maiden tour plan was something that had never been attempted before on such a grand scale. Circumnavigating the globe, the band flew in a specially customised Boeing 757 airliner with their crew and 12 tons of music and stage equipment on board, playing 23 sold out stadium and arena shows in 13 countries in just 45 days, travelling 70,000km and performing to almost half a million fans.


The band were accompanied everywhere by award-winning documentary makers Banger Productions from Toronto in Canada, who have received international critical acclaim for their previous movies "Metal, A Headbangers Journey" and recently "Global Metal". Filmmakers Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn and their team bring an intimate behind the scenes view of this remarkable journey, with a close look at the logistics involved and following Team Maiden in the cockpit, on the plane and on and offstage, getting to the heart of this global adventure of a band that has very rarely even let cameras backstage before.


Shot in High Definition and with superb 5.1 surround sound, mixed by the bands producer Kevin 'Caveman' Shirley, FLIGHT 666 brings to the screen all the drama, excitement and hysteria that followed the band around the world every time 'Ed Force One' touched down in a new country. The film documents the intensity of the punishing show schedules, the struggle with the time zones, the pressures of ensuring that every performance matched the energy of the many thousands of ecstatic and expectant fans from many cultural backgrounds, unusual angles from the spectacular shows... and of course the fun had on the way!.

Iron Maiden: Flight 666 is an honest and revealing portrait of one of the worlds most successful rock bands and a must-see for all Maiden fans.

есть вполне справедливое мнение, что мэйден - это не роллинги. и не тот ли это фильм (в случае с роллингами), снятый мартином скорсезе - и без того известнейшего режиссера, который кучу говна может снять, а на него все равно люди по всему миру ходить будут?
